You've Got Mail

Nana's Valentine package arrived a day late but it made no difference to Ms. Bella. She loved opening each little bag and pulling out each little surprise. We named her doggie, "Cupcake" and she snuggles it and loves on it just like the rest of her beloved animals. She also received two pair of slippers, some heart barrettes, and a 101 Dalmation book. Thank you, Nana!

Young McBella Had a Farm

Daddy surprised his girls today with a family outing to the Sacrewell Farm in Petersborough. It was a beautiful day. Although cold and crisp, the sun was so bright and cheerful. It was so refreshing to have to dust off my shades and actually use them for a change. Plus, Bella got to pull hers out, too. The farm was so adorable. Bella enjoyed all of the animals except she just doesn't enjoy being outside in the cold...period. If she had it her way, I don't think she would ever go outdoors until Spring and Summer.

Her new favorite word is "duck" so when she saw the ducks, she was excited to be able to use it.....and when she saw the chickens....and when she saw the roosters.....and when she saw the birds in the sky....all "ducks". She also got real excited when she saw the donkey and the sheep. She's not too into horses, which is cool because maybe she won't ever ask for a pony.

After seeing all of the animals, we went on a tractor ride around the perimeter of the farm. It was a little breezy but Bella got a little snack of Cheezits so she was content. It was beautiful to see the rolling farm lands and blue sky. Plus, there was still a little snow on the ground, which added to the beauty.

Later we had lunch in the restaurant and visited the gift shop,of course. Bella's latest interest is cars. So, we found the cutest tractors. As soon as I found them, I gave them to her and she sat in the middle of the floor of the store and started playing. She scoots them around and makes vroom vroom car noises...its so funny. Once we got her up off the floor, she found the huge selection of stuffed animals. Uh-oh I knew we were in for it. She pulled out the sweetest lamb and started to take it to daddy. Deja Vu! Daddy made her put it back and I was waiting for the tantrum....waiting....waiting...waiting.....waiting.....silence. She just walked away. What a good girl. We made it out of the store without another stuffed animal nor a tantrum. It's a miracle! What an absolutely perfectly blessed day!

Getting ready for our outing.

All bundled and ready to see the farm

Valentine Bliss

Valentine's Day started early with a yummy breakfast made by mommy. Bella had heartshaped pancakes--regular, blueberry and yes, chocolate chip. She loved every morsel and ate quite a few. Then, after some playing and a nap we went to church. When we got home from church, we gave Bella all of her Valentine loot which included a small musical frog, a little heart purse, a valentine outfit, 3 valentine books, a small bear and yes, a small box of chocolates.

Watching her devour the chocolates was the funniest thing I have see in awhile. She first opened the lid and carefully selected one. (she obviously does not know the art of poking a hole in the bottom of each chocolate yet) Then, she put it to her mouth for a lick and once she realized in a split second that she was going to like it she took it out of her mouth and started to take all of the chocolates out the box at once. She soon realized after three that she couldn't fit anymore in her hand and then I had to step in and help her put them back. I have no idea what she was thinking. Was she taking them like a squirrel does to nuts because she knew we were diving in next? Anyhow, she put the one back up to her mouth that she licked and proceeded to eat it. After that was finished she immediately had one "on deck". After one bite, I looked up and she had the whole thing in her mouth and chocolate "juice" was running down her chin. Mommy and daddy ate the rest and within a 5 minute time period, the Briggs family finished off the little Valentine treat. She then did her sign for "all done" and closed up the empty box. She truly has her momma's blood on this one. She was grinning ear to ear the entire time (when she wasn't chewing). The only thing she didn't do that mommy usually does with a box of chocolates is cry when they are gone. ha-ha. Let's just hope this "early" introduction to one of life's simple (but fattening) pleasures doesn't come back to haunt us somehow!

Disclaimer: We do not feed our baby chocolate on a regular basis. This was a one-off special occassion so please don't get judgemental and/or concerned. I assure you that Bella has a very healthy diet.

Arabella'a Valentine gift to us.

Checking out her new Valetine outfit.

"Hmmmmmm, pretty good stitching."

Giving the bear on the chocolates some love.

Man, these are good, I gotta take them all and hide em, NOW!

Sparky and Cheezits and Frosting, Oh My!

It'a been a rough three weeks in the Briggs household. We've been passing around a cold to each other and therefore there hasn't been anything to blog about until this last week.

On Wednesday, Bella got to meet Sparky, the Fire Dog. There were so many things about the day that display her personality so perfectly that the story must be told. First of all, out of all of her classmates, Bella pretty much is always one of the two pulled in the wagon when they go on trips or out to the playground. As you will see, this day was no different. I wonder how she ends up there, while all the other kids have to walk. I've been meaning to ask the question. Anyhow, when she first saw Sparky, she did what she always does when she gets excited which is flap her arms rapidly like a bird and gasp in and out. This, of course, changed when Sparky got closer. Once he got in her personal space she got upset (which is not captured in the pics). Something about people (or animals) in our daughter's personal space sparks a different side of her. We finally got her to pet him, but that was the end of the excitement with Sparky. The funniest thing though was later on that evening when we mentioned his name, she threw herself on the floor and started giggling. Gosh, I REALLY wish I could spend sometime in that darling little head of hers.

On Thursday, Bella discovered CHEEZITS! At snacktime, her teacher gave her a scoop of chex mix which included cheerios, cheezits, and different chex. When she came to a cheezit, she started with the arm flapping and exciting noises. Before she could finish her snack, she did her famous puppy dog face and asked for "more". When they served her another cupful, her whole face fell sullen and she looked like she lost her best friend. Her teachers couldn't figure it out until they realized that the new cup of chex mix they placed on her plate had NO cheezits in it. When they figured it out and got her some cheezits, all was right in the world again.

Then, on Friday, they had a parent activity at School, but mommy forgot the camera. This time it was cookie decorating. Daddy got to go to this one, too. It started out so exciting with two sugar cookies and all the sprinkles and frosting a girl could ask for. So, Bella got a little frosting on a popsicle stick....put a dab on her cookie...tasted it...then screamed....didn't like it....cookie decorating over. But, at least she ate the cookies, even though they were plain, so I guess she can still be related to me somehow.

Sparky!!!!!!!!

Bella has no idea Sparky is behind her!

The Princess has to be pulled in a wagon. Look at her sprawled out.

Uh-oh! The police sirens went off!

Hello, Mr. Policeman.

Sparky Again and this time he is coming toward me!

"I like you Sparky , but why are you touching me?"
